Background information/experience required:

Because designing templates, adding custom fields and populating custom lists in any software product can be complex topics, you'll need to set aside some time to understand the process.

We suggest the following:

First, ensure you have read these applicable Help topics. You can reference them at

http://www.dalcotech.com/qhelp/qhelpmain.aspx

Getting started > Customizing fields, etc.

When the page opens, select the topics:

Other references: Customizing fields and Modifying list contents

You will likely be adding custom fields that are lists, so you need to understand how they tie together. You should experiment by adding some custom fields and setting one or more of them as lists, then populating the list contents with the choices you want to give to the users. You can delete the fields and lists if you don't want to keep them, or if you need to replace them.

You should use someone experienced in database design to do this, since it's fairly important that field names and list value assignments are logical and meet basic database design criteria. You will be calling these fields from a custom panel or main page of the Contact module, so naming conventions should be standardized and followed. Also, you will be referencing those fields in the templates you are building in Quill, so you want to ensure good field names.

Getting started > Quill word processing.

You need to understand Quill to develop word documents or templates. After learning Quill, select the topic:

Using Quill is straight-forward, but inserting placeholder fields is a more advanced function (whether it's Word for Windows or Quill), so you should have someone experienced with Word for Windows or a similar product doing this task.

Getting started > Emails, campaigns

After learning about creating emails, select the topic:

The process of creating source lists (either via Query builder or Group builder) is intermediate-level work. Some queries and filters may require more expert capability.

It's the same as using any group builder in any CRM. The Query builder module is standards-based so anyone with experience in products like Crystal Reports will have no problems.

Steps:

1. Optionally, set up custom contact fields.

2. Optionally, set list selections for custom contact fields.

3. Create a template in Quill.

4. Create a source list using Query builder here or here, or Group builder here or here.

5. Start a new email and select the Bulk email menu option, then select the module you used to create the source list.

6. If you used Query builder, click here. If you used Group builder, click here. When Campaign Central opens, follow the information here.
